((Note: While there would be story entries, there are also going to be entries of headcanons to the MSQ rather than telling the MSQ in its entirety.))

Personality:Upon being in the VIIth Imperial Legion, he wasn't cold-natured like some to most of his comrades. Instead of thinking of those in the Eorzean Alliance as savages, he treated them as equals. However, that did not hold him back to fight against them without so much thought if they had families at home. After joining the Scions, his loyalty changed from the Garlean Empire to the Scions and Eorzea as he felt indebted to the Scions' care and mercy toward him. Despite being tempered, he has a kinder nature to him, being more thoughtful and polite to his peers.

Vamax is a Wildwood Elezen who was part of the Garlean Empire's army as Tribunus Militum and, as such, wielded a soldier-issued gunblade. However, during the Battle of Carteneau, he was injured. On the ground, he watched the fall of Dalamud and the release of Bahamut. He became most unfortunate as he was tempered, its effects having to differ from Nael van Darnus and Midas nan Garlond. After becoming tempered, he fell into a short state of unconsciousness. After waking up, he felt the effects of being tempered, having the desire to either find a way to bring Bahamut back or cause harm in a civilization. Yet he kept to his morality, determined to push the desires away and become a wanderer. Deeming it best to leave the battlefield and as far away that he could be from the Elder Primal as he was most likely presumed dead, he made his way to Vesper Bay in hopes to take a ferry to Limsa Lominsa despite his injuries and his Tribunus Militum attire. He eventually made it to Vesper Bay. However, his injuries as well as hunger and dehydration caused him to collapse into a state of unconsciousness once again. Noticing his attire, people had kept their distance from him. Ironically, the ones who had taken him in were the recently formed Scions of the Seventh Dawn.He woke up in a room of the Waking Sands and out of his attire, wearing an outfit akin to what those in the chirurgeon's care would wear. He came to meet the Scions and their leader, Minfilia, where he discussed his previous affiliation with Garlemald but kept the secret that he was tempered. A few of them such as Y'shtola and Papalymo were skeptical, but Vamax was allowed to stay with them as a member of the Scions. Despite the desire to harm them due to the tempering, he became a friend of theirs and soon became one who trained in the arcane arts.It was not until the Bahamut questline five years later that he told the truth of being tempered by Bahamut as he faced difficulties to act normally around the Warrior of Light and the Leveilleur twins. He revealed this truth to the three during the questline and then the rest of the Scions after the matters were settled. However, he gave a grim warning that while he kept his sense of morality and loyal to the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, there could be a day when he is not "completely all right" and there could be a chance he would turn against them but not of his own free will. He asked that if that day were to come, then the others would act upon their better judgment, showing that he cares for the allies that became his friends and family.

“Glory be to Garlemald.” That had been the pledge to a nation. A nation that believed that outside of it was thought of as “savage lands.” A nation that was dedicated to seizing control of those lands. And Vamax rem Lenufair served under that nation’s banner as a tribunus of the VIIth Legion. He was a tribunus yet different from his peers. He was not a Garlean, but a Wildwood Elezen. He showed promise nonetheless, wielding a gunblade and wearing a high-grade red armor with the emblem of the Empire on the back. Unlike his peers, though, he did not think of the enemies in Cartenau Flats as “savages.” He thought of them as just any other soldiers. He held some form of respect for who he fought. Yet he still did not hold back. If needed, he killed without hesitation.Shards of Dalamud fell, but so what? What did it matter to him? His legatus wanted it to be so. He was devoted to those who he served. He was devoted to those who had let him prove his salt. …He was devoted to those who let him abide in their ranks. That would not change.Vamax crossed his blades with one of the higher-ranking soldiers. He could tell that the soldier was one by the uniform being more decorative than what he had seen. The soldier he was clashing blades with had more experienced. If the circumstances were different, he would have complimented the soldier. But they weren’t.Their blades clashed again until the tribunus had gotten the upper hand. He used his gunblade to disarm the individual in front of him before raising his gunblade to strike him down. However, he stopped as he looked at the soldier. He was not scared of Vamax. No. Vamax noticed that his opponent was looking at the sky in fear. Were he one of the others from the Garlean army, he would have struck down his enemy. But he wasn’t. He was curious about what caught the enemy’s attention. As he started to look up, he heard a roar from the sky. He looked up completely, his light-purple hues widening as he saw a dragon emerge from Dalamud. Was this truly the plan of his legatus? To free this angry beast from its captivity? It was then that he felt what could have been the dragon’s gaze on him. Solely on him. Within his mind, he could hear what could have been a rumble akin to a laugh. It was then that he heard a voice in his mind as Vamax’s gaze was fixated on the dragon, more forced than willingly.“I am the elder primal, Bahamut. Thou fight under the banner yet do not know what thou art truly fighting for. More so now that thou have seen me. Very well. Thou wilt be my servant but not immediately. The most fitting fate for thine shalt be to live as thou find thy purpose. Thy reason to truly fight. Only then the beginning of thy soul’s torment until thou shalt be broken completely and slay that reason before joining my side. So shall it be!”The Elezen watched as Bahamut prepared itself before shooting a singular beam toward him. Vamax clenched his teeth before using his gunblade to defend himself yet his protection did not prevail as the beam covered him. It was then that something was rooted inside of him. It felt… foreign. It felt… corrupt. A corrupted seed, planted within him that would sprout and grow until Bahamut’s plans for him would go into effect.A sudden power of the beam was suddenly felt, causing him to get thrown back and fall into unconsciousness. The only things that he could hear before that were the primal’s roars and ferocity towards the realm and shouts of soldiers. Yet he could not distinguish the shouts of orders or fear.

Vamax groaned softly before letting out a small cough, moving to sit up from the ground. His eyes adjusted upon opening once he did, only to widen afterward. Around him were bodies from both sides. However, he did not see the draconic primal anywhere. There was only deceased bodies and silence. He winced while using his gunblade to stand up on his feet, nearly stumbling back to the ground. His uniform had tears and was dirtied, some from the battle yet some perhaps from the attack that Bahamut used against him to temper him. Vamax placed his hand over his heart, sighing deeply. Even though he was not dead, he might as well have been due to what occurred with the elder primal. He needed to escape. He needed to get as far away as he could from Carteneau. He tried to recall the map of Eorzea that his legion used in case if they were victorious and control other areas. He then recalled a ferry in Vesper Bay that could take him to Limsa Lominsa. He would prefer the shackles of gaol than being completely submitted to a primal. Besides, he was most likely considered among the deceased in the legion.Slowly, he slowly started to make his way out of Carteneau and eventually, Mor Dhona. He was no longer Vamax rem Lenufair, tribunus to the VIIth Legion. He was only Vamax Lenufair, a Wildwood Elezen who was tempered and would be tortured by a primal.

Vamax Lenufair traveled to The Silver Bazaar with difficulty. Were it not for his uniform, he would have easily gone through Horizon to get to Vesper Bay but he did not want to chance getting caught by the Brass Blades there or any settlement with aetherytes. Whatever god was merciful as his uniform was dirtied enough to where the ferryman at the bazaar did not recognize the emblem on his back, mistaking him for a Maelstrom officer. The former tribunus did his best not to get sick as he was weak due to a lack of hydration and food. Upon reaching the dock of Crescent Cove, he gave his thanks to the ferryman, something that his legion would have laughed about. Using his gunblade, he walked to Vesper Bay slowly, doing his best not to stumble. He was almost there. He can almost imagine himself on the larger boat, possibly seasick but going far away from Mor Dhona and Thanalan. He was almost there to prevent himself from posing any danger toward others.Yet fate had a different plan for him as when he barely went through the small tunnel to Vesper Bay and pass through the stone arch, his body finally gave up. He collapsed forward onto the stone, causing people to gasp and stare at him. He could not tell what they were saying. They could have pointed out that he was a Maelstrom officer. They could have pointed out by his back now exposed and his gunblade, they could have figured out that he was someone who used to be in the Empire. It did not matter anymore. He needed rest at least. His vision was blurred but he saw three pairs of feet approaching him. He could only tell that they were not soldiers or guards as two pairs wore sandals. He closed his eyes so he could slip into unconsciousness but not without hearing a soft, feminine voice. “You’ve come at last. Urianger, Thancred, help bring him inside. He is our guest that I have spoken about.”As much as Vamax wanted to argue, to tell them that they were making a mistake, he couldn’t. All he could do was finally lose consciousness.

“What was she thinking? We all saw what he wore. What emblem he had on his apparel. They were the reason that Bahamut was freed!”
“I’m sure she has her reason! I mean… Other than him passing out right when he arrived in Vesper Bay.”“His physical condition is only one part of a mystery. It is difficult to say anything under certainty, but his aether is completely abnormal.”Vamax slowly shifted his body, groaning softly once again as he sat up. He opened his eyes slowly, adjusting to the dim light of lanterns. Once his eyes adjusted, he saw three individuals looking at him. One was a female, silver-haired Miqo’te. The other was a male, blonde-haired Lalafell. The last one was a masked woman, a Hyur if he was not mistaken. The Miqo’te and Lalafell had an expression of distrust toward him. Even with the mask, he would have guessed that the Hyuran woman looked at him the same way. He did not blame them at all. They found out that he was an enemy. It was then that he realized that he was on a bed. His attire was of regular cotton clothes, making him think that he was a patient in a chirugeon’s office. He could also tell that he was clean for the most part. How long was he unconscious and why did he not feel anything such as being undressed, bathed, and redressed before being placed on the bed?“I’ll go get Minfilia!” The Hyuran woman spoke up finally. “She’ll be delighted to know that he’s awake! Papalymo, try not to set him ablaze while I’m gone!”The Lalafell gave a huff before speaking, “As long as he does not attempt any hostile actions, it would not come to that, Yda. Even so, only a fool would set something ablaze in a residence other than a fireplace, lantern, or candlestick.”Without giving a response or looking at Vamax, the one named Yda ran out of the room, most likely to find this Minfilia. It was uncomfortably quiet as he watched the two remaining individuals keep their gaze on him. He wanted to speak up to break the silence, but when he did, Yda came back in, followed by three individuals. The taller of the three was an Elezen, his features covered by his hood and eyewear. The other was a white-haired male Hyur whose gaze was more hardened as he looked at Vamax than the others gave. The one in between the two was a Hyuran woman. Unlike the others in the room, she had a sense of warmth around her, much like a mother.“It is a good thing that you are awake.” The woman smiled at him. “We were wondering when you would have awakened. I am sure that you have as many or more questions for us as we do for you. Are you well enough to exchange those with us?”He was as wary of them as they were of him. He wanted to say no, but with all eyes on him and due to his circumstances in various ways, he had no choice but to agree. “Very well. I accept those terms.”“Excellent.” The smile never left the woman’s face. “You may go first.”It did not take any thought to what his inquiry would be first. “Who are all of you and where am I to begin with?”“Those around you are called the Archons, those from Sharlayan and of the Circle of Knowing.” The woman answered immediately. “Those with you when you have awoken are Y’shtola, Papalymo, and Yda. The Elezen beside me is Urianger and the Hyuran man is Thancred. I am the Antecedent, Minfilia. Where you are now is… Well, our small home for the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. At least we hope. We want to do our best to protect this realm whether from primal, Empire, Ascian or otherwise. Now… Since you asked two, I will go ahead and ask two questions for you. Who are you and what legion did you serve?”So that was why they held such distrust toward him. Yet he dared not withhold any information to those who had taken him in instead of letting him waste away or turn him over to rot in a gaol. “I am Vamax Lenufair, formerly Vamax rem Lenufair. I used to serve under the VIIth Legion.”“The same legion who fought the Eorzean Alliance.” Papalymo frowned at him. “Do you have any idea what you have done? An elder primal was released because of your legion. Not to mention that our leader was lost.”“What happened in Carteneau was beyond my knowledge.” Vamax looked at the Lalafell. “I did not know that it was going to come out and wreak havoc. I was only following orders of my legatus. I—”He paused to let out a deep sigh, casting his gaze down. “I know that we have done wrong. It would be foolish of me to ask for forgiveness. I am as much of a sinner and murderer as the others from the legion. I may be physically clean, but my hands would forever be stained with the blood of those who fought for something better than the Empire. If I had known that it would have happened like so, I would have gone a different path, even if that would mean if I became a traitor.”“Seeing that you had your rank in the legion, I’m sure that the Brass Blades would have you in the darkest gaol.” Thancred crossed his arms, his guarded look still on his face.As Vamax was about to respond, Minfilia interjected. “Wait. You coming here and our meeting were no mere coincidence. I can hear and speak with the Mother Crystal. She told me that we would meet by me waiting for the one clad in red. And here you are. And listening to your story, I do not find any lies in your words. So, I have a proposition for you. As Thancred mentioned, you can easily be put in gaol where you would most likely spend the rest of your life with your guilt. Or you can join us and join our cause as a means of it being the different path you so wish. A clean slate if you wish to call it that.”“Minfilia, are you certain?” Y’shtola looked over toward the Hyuran woman. “His aether is rather… peculiar regardless of his… previous affiliation.”“All the more reason we could keep an eye on him,” Minfilia replied before looking at Vamax. “So, what will it be, Vamax?”Vamax was hesitant for he was tempered. His soul would eventually be damned and unable to be saved. Still… They could have left him there or have him taken to gaol. But they didn’t. After pondering, he spoke. “What you have done for me, I owe you my life. I know that all of you cannot trust me, but if it is possible, I will repay my debt by joining your cause and vow that I will never betray you and will serve under you until the end of my days.”Even as Minfilia gave a smile and nod while the others looked at him with distrust, Vamax could not help but think back on the words that Bahamut spoke. ‘The most fitting fate for thine shalt be to live as thou find thy purpose. Thy reason to truly fight. Only then the beginning of thy soul’s torment until thou shalt be broken completely and slay that reason before joining my side. So shall it be!’Vamax Lenufair did his best to hold back from wincing as he felt a crack within him. He knew that his torment had begun, but he would do his best to uphold his vow to those around him… even if they have not trusted him.

Five years. That was the amount of time it had been since Vamax joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. It took time and it was difficult but he managed to be friends with those who he met five years ago. Not only that, but he completely changed himself. Blue attire replaced his red. Arcanism replaced his affinity for using a gunblade, the clear sign of his affinity having a pact with his Ruby Carbuncle. To him, it was a large change, but it was a change that was welcome. As four of the Archons kept vigil in different places, Vamax stayed in the Waking Sands with Urianger. Eventually, he met the Warrior of Light after they spoke to Minfilia to join. Like the others, he offered his services to the Warrior of Light should it be necessary. Despite the assignments as well as the torture Bahamut inflicted on his soul, things worked out for the former tribunus.Things worked out until one day when things took a sharp turn for the worse. Hearing the sounds of fighting, Vamax looked from his book and suddenly stood up, prepared to take his grimoire into his hand to defend those in the room with him. However, he was not expecting Imperial soldiers barging into the room.A soldier quickly glanced at Vamax and raised his weapon toward him. “Don’t think about fighting, savage! Lower your hand or all of you will die here and now!”Vamax’s eyes narrowed at those words. He watched Urianger and Papalymo heeding to his threat. He refrained a sigh as he lowered his hand from his grimoire. However, his eyes widened as the soldiers fired their arms at those in the room save for the two Archons and Vamax. The soldier smirked after lowering his weapon, looking at Vamax. “Look at that. A fair few of you are alive. You didn’t think we would take all of you, did you? Restrain them. They’re going to be our ‘guests’ after all. And no funny business from the three of you. Otherwise, you’ll join your friends on the ground.”Once again, there was no choice. Garlemald had the victory of this ambush. The three survivors waited for three of the soldiers to bind them in shackles. Once they did, they were led outside of the Waking Sands. They waited outside until they were joined by Minifilia in custody and a figure clad in white Garlean armor. Vamax’s blood ran ice cold, knowing full well who the figure was. From the pause, he knew that the figure knew him as well.“Well, well! Here I thought that an ally to the XIVth Legion would be lying when he said that one of our more esteemed guests was someone from the past. Yet you look a little worse for wear, Vamax rem Lenufair. Living in these savage lands for all these years did not help you at all, did they?”“Livia sas Junius…” Vamax shook his head. “I no longer go by that anymore. I am merely Vamax Lenufair of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.”“You cannot be serious!” Livia’s laugh was heard from her helmet. “You, a tribunus, a part of this… This group of self-righteous savages?”“He is speaking the truth!” Minfilia spoke up finally. “For five years, he had been a faithful companion to all of us. He earned his place with us.”“How much you have fallen if that is the case.” Livia shook her head. “Soft you may have been but you were one who your peers respected. If they would see you now, they would be disappointed and your life forfeit. But… Save your words for my lord Gaius. You will be seeing him soon while your new friends will be in custody.”Without letting either of them respond, the group that ambushed the Waking Sands led their captives away. Vamax Lenufair prayed to whatever god that was listening to do their best to protect his companions from whatever future circumstance they would be in.

Castrum Centri. In the past, it was once Castrum Novum and under the control of the fallen legatus, Nael van Darnus. His legatus. Yet, the dread of the fact that he was in a base he had worked at as tribunus did not compare to the fact that the base was in Mor Dhona. The same region where the Battle of Carteneau took place. The same region that Bahamut broke free and cursed the Elezen. One of the reasons why Vamax liked staying in Vesper Bay was not only of his companions but the sheer fact that he was away from the battlegrounds that changed his life. Yet here he was and felt the clawing of his soul more, causing him to be more tired than normal. The tribunus for the XIVth legion did not say those words just to intimidate Vamax. As his companions were taken to be held in the storage tower, Vamax was taken to someplace else. A hangar, he could tell upon entering.Upon entering, there was no mistaking the armored Garlean with a gunblade. Vamax knew that the Garlean was none other than Gaius van Baelsar. And the one that he was conversing was, to Vamax’s surprise, a dark-robed individual. From the look of the robe, the Elezen could tell that it was an Ascian. As Vamax was guided closer, the two turned to look at him. The red half-mask of the Ascian as well as the details of the robe made Vamax realize that he was an overlord. Yet other than that, his physical appearance was a mystery.“Leave us,” Gaius spoke while looking at the guard who escorted Vamax to the two.The guard did not move at first as if he did not trust Vamax to stay in line. Yet, the fact that he was in a situation where a legatus and an Ascian were his enemies, the doubt went away. With an imperial salute, the guard took his leave.Gaius made sure that the guard was completely out of the hangar before looking at Vamax. “Vamax rem Lenufair. As much as I should be relieved that one of the tribunus of the VIIth Legion still lived, it disheartens me that you have cast your lot with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.”“My apologies if I disappointed you, but fate had led me to them,” Vamax replied, his tone being sarcastic to the first half of the response. “And I no longer go by that name. I merely go by Vamax Lenufair.”“If you two are done with ‘pleasantries,’ I have words that I want to exchange with this one before you get back to ‘catching up.’” The Ascian overlord spoke up, his head turned toward Vamax. He crossed his arms while tilting his head to the side. “If it was not for the sheer fact that I am curious, you would be with the rest of your Scion accomplices. I am Lahabrea. Now… How is it that a tempered one such as yourself managed to stay in the Scions without attacking them?”Not only Vamax stiffened, but Gaius as well. The legatus looked at Lahabrea afterward. “Tempered? By a primal?”“Indeed,” Lahabrea replied while keeping his gaze on Vamax. “Yet it’s far different than the effects of other primals. This one’s mind is still there so most likely his soul is there as well. This means that this tempered state is gradual, most likely to torment. What primal was it that gave you such a fate, Tempered One?”Vamax was silent for a little while. His secret was out, but at least the Scions were not present to learn that secret. “…Bahamut. After he was freed from Dalamud. As Lahabrea said, the torment has been gradual for five years. The reason why I did not attack them was that they gave me sanctuary and treated my wounds after the battle.”“Remarkable…” Lahabrea muttered before a smirk formed on her lips. “Yet, they do not know, do they? Oh, how that could simply be a perfect addition to their predicament. But… I think I will have this kept between all three of us. After all, it would be even more perfect for them to learn the hard way, should you reach that point of attacking them. Yet I hope that is sooner rather than later, Tempered One.”“This is certainly a revelation about you,” Gaius spoke up finally. “We assumed that all of the tribunus fell in battle five years ago, including you. But here you are, living yet tormented from within. Even if that is so, things can change for you, Vamax. Despite your current situation, the VIIth Legion could be completely rebuilt under your leadership. Serve under the Garlean banner again. Reclaim your title as tribunus or that could be more if able as you were one of the finest in the Legion. Your allegiance to the Scions can be forgiven.”One would think that Vamax Lenufair would be troubled as if being stuck between the Scions and the Garlean Empire. But there was no hesitation in his response. “I will respectfully decline the offer, Gaius. Despite my looking up to you as an inspiration in terms of the use of the gunblade and lack of simple discrimination of Eorzeans, I know my place. The Scions… They could have turned me over to a city-state to let me rot in a goal. But they didn’t. They allowed me to stay with them despite them not knowing my tempered condition. They did not trust me at first, of course. It took time during the five years. But now, they are my valued companions. They are my family, a family that I would gladly lay down my life for.I may be tormented by Bahamut. I feel it even more so now that I am here as it feeds off my suffering whether by the present or memories of this place. But fate decided to have me with them. And so, I will stay with the Scions until my last breath or last amount of sanity.”Gaius took the time to process the response, but Vamax did not hear anything that was considered mocking to the Elezen. “…Very well. If that is your decision, then you will stay with them. You will be escorted to where they are housed where you will stay until we think of what to do with your group.”“And remember this, Tempered One,” Lahabrea spoke up, a smirk forming on his lips again. “Sooner or later, you will snap. You will attack those close to you. Your decision will be your regret in time.”Vamax knew that Lahabrea was right despite his taunting. He had to make plans ahead of time to prevent the possibility of harming his treasured companions. And he only had a short time to do so as he was escorted to be held prisoner in the storage tower along with the Scions there. He only wished that their salvation would be soon.

Vamax was concerned as he waited on Urianger to get back from his travels. When the bloody banquet occurred in Ul’dah and the Sultana was pronounced dead even though she was in a deep sleep, he stayed with Urianger in the Waking Sands. Why did he stay there? During the events concerning Bahamut and his former legatus, Nael van Darnus, he blamed himself for temporarily being tempered by the Elder Primal only to snap out of it after attacking the Warrior of Light. All with the mindset that investigating Bahamut with the Warrior of Light and the young Leveilleur twins to bring closure and an end to the torment that Bahamut placed on him. Since that day, he blamed himself and remained in the Waking Sands, not going anywhere near the Warrior of Light with the thought that they would not want to be around him. He would not blame them at all. So, he stayed even when Alphinaud and Tataru traveled with the Warrior of Light to Ishgard, only accompanying the Archon to wherever Urianger needed to go.Still… He wondered if it was truly a good idea to let the Archon go to Dravania by himself in search of answers. He should have been back sooner. He sighed quietly in relief as he watched Urianger enter the room that was a gathering place for Scions. Yet that relief was replaced with concern when the other Elezen approached him, clearly troubled.“Master Urianger, what is troubling you?” Vamax’s words made the Archon look at him.Urianger hesitated but soon told him of what took him so long. He talked of how the Ascian, Elidibus, and the self-proclaimed Warrior of Darkness approached him concerning a difficult alliance through subterfuge. Vamax’s mind processed the tale and how Urianger would do it for the sake of the Scions.“So, you are going to have a double life for a short amount of time,” Vamax said finally. “Will you tell the others this?”“Nay. I am ashamed to speak with them concerning this matter.” Urianger shook his head, pulled his hood back, and took off his mask to reveal his features. “Thou art the sole individual I trust with this information. And I must ask of thee to keep this secret.”“I take it that you do not want me to join you in this endeavor.” Vamax placed his hand on his side gently.Urianger nodded to him, his expression still serious. “If thou dost come with me, our adversaries will question the alliance. I would wish for thee to maintain the silence of the matters at hand.”So, Vamax would have to keep this secret from the only allies he considered as family. Even to act normal around them will be something that would be difficult. Yet it was a request from Urianger which was important enough as the Archon was not one to request many things.Vamax let out a long, soft sigh of defeat before giving a formal bow toward Urianger. “If that is what you request, then I will respect your wishes and do what you ask. May I ask how long you wish for me to keep this as a secret or join you?”“When I am able, I will send word to thee. Pray be prepared to make haste to the location I tell thee for whatever may happen, our companions will need thy aid.” Urianger had no hesitation answering the question, his gaze steady.Vamax could tell that Urianger was troubled upon thinking what situation could happen between now and that time. He did not blame the Archon. For now, he could only do his best to support Urianger in his endeavor. Saying nothing, he bowed formally once more to Urianger as if confirming his role in the plan.

A Realm Reborn
-
1. When it comes to his attire, his current clothing contrasted from his Garlean soldier attire, going from the typical black and red uniform to a dark blue formal robe.
2. His Garlean armor and gunblade was locked and stored away in a lone crate. However, the action wasn't forced by the Scions but was his own choice as he wanted to have a fresh start all the while doing what he could do to help the others.3. Shortly after storing his gunblade away and changed into a more appropriate attire, he journeyed to Limsa Lominsa to study the arcane arts.4. His main hobby when he does not have a task is reading.5. In the beginning after the Battle of Carteneau, the Scions did not trust him due to his past affiliation with Garlemald. Some time after and before the events of ARR, they gradually accepted him as their comrade and do not avoid him like they did in the beginning.6. There are times when he sits down by himself but only because he does not want the others to see his exhaustion due to suppressing urges akin to a typical tempered individual. Before explaining his condition during and after the Coils of Bahamut, he only states that he had difficulty sleeping and spent the night before studying tomes and lost track of time.7. In the beginning when he first meets a newcomer such as the Warrior of Light, he does not speak of his past occupation of a Garlean soldier. He only brings it up when asked what he did before he joined the Scions.8. He gets captured alongside Minfilia, Urianger, Papalymo, and Tataru. Upon their arrival on Castrum Centri, Lahabrea picks up on the fact that he was tempered and has Vamax sent to talk to the Ascian and Gaius. Vamax gets questioned of why not succumb to the tempered state or join the Empire once again to where Vamax explains that the Scions were his allies and family and that he was indebted to him. This further signifies that he preferred keeping his sanity and soul as long as he could even if he should collapse.9. As Lahabrea would pick up the tempered state, it could imply that Thancred would know as well regarding to Vamax but most likely wais until the time Vamax tells his story regarding his tempered condition.

1. After attacking the Warrior of Light due to being temporarily possessed by Bahamut in the Coils of Bahamut questline, he saw himself fit to stay away from them as he blamed himself and felt unworthy to be a companion.2. Instead of being missing in action after the bloody banquet in Ul’dah, he stayed in the Waking Sands with Urianger, aiding in casting a glamour on the site to hide it.3. He accompanied Urianger anywhere he needed to go such as Ul’dah or Ishgard to aid the Warrior of Light and the rest of the companions.4. Urianger told him of the matters concerning the Warriors of Darkness and his mission of subterfuge. However, instead of letting Vamax help, he asked him to keep it a secret and act normal.5. He joined the Warrior of Light and the group at the Bowl of Embers shortly before Urianger to aid in fighting the Warriors of Darkness.6. When he saw Minfilia, he asked for forgiveness if he had caused trouble somehow and thanked her for taking him in five years ago.7. After the events of the Bowl of Embers, he went back to the Waking Sands and stayed until he would be called upon to help despite still feeling guilty about attacking the Warrior of Light.8. When word reached him regarding Papalymo’s sacrifice, he was saddened as he greatly respected the Lalafell.

Main-Shadowbringers1. Before the events of Shadowbringers, he accompanied Urianger in Stormblood when he needed to meet with the Warrior of Light.2. Unlike the other Scions, he was not summoned to the First. The reason for this was his soul was still tempered by Bahamut even though the Elder Primal was no more.3. Krile had told him of the condition that the Scions were in, asking him for his assistance with giving them aether due to a suggestion by Matoya. He showed no hesitation in agreeing to help in the area despite his state.4. During his time of giving the Scions aether, Krile peered into his past with the power of the Echo, finding out his past as part of the VIIth Legion as well as Bahamut. Nevertheless, he told her he would work until the point of breaking if it meant that his companions would return home safely.

Post-Shadowbringers1. He assisted the Warrior of Light and Gaius in the Sorrow of Werlyt questline.2. During the questline, he grew a romantic attraction toward Gaius. After the events, he promised him and Allie that he would make a more unified version of the VIIth Legion and that he would be leader to atone for leaving the Empire and leaving Gaius' family in the hands of Valens.3. When the Scions managed to come back from the First, Vamax took the time to sleep and recover his aether.4. When Alisaie found a way to cure his tempered state and was successful to cure Ga Bu, she cured Vamax from his tempered condition. This made him indebted to the young Elezen.5. Tataru made new clothes for him as a new beginning after being cured. Without hesitation, he changed into them.6. He rejoined the Scions in the remainder of their tasks, even taking part of aiding in the fight against Lunar Bahamut in Paglth'an.

Endwalker1. After arriving in Sharlayan, Vamax joined the group that went to Labyrinthos.2. In Garlemald, Jullus recognized Vamax as soon as the Elezen introduced himself, resulting in further spite toward Vamax.3. Vamax felt discontent as he remembered the days with his former legatus, wishing that she was in Garlemald with him and missing her.4. When the Final Days happened in Garlemald, he was aiding the survivors to leave. Little did he know that a blasphemy ambushed him from behind and killed him.5. In the Aitiascope, his spirit can be shown to assist the Warrior of Light and the Scions before the fights against Livia and Rhitahtyn, giving them offensive aid for a minute.6. As he watched his companions leave, Hydaelyn offered to have him reincarnated. Despite knowing he would not be the same or have his memories, he agreed to her offer, becoming the voidsent named Eligor.

Relationships

Eula Darnus

During his time in the VIIth Legion, Vamax was devoted to his Legatus, Nael van Darnus. It was only when Nael asked to come with him for scouting when Nael revealed the truth to Vamax that "Nael" was in fact Eula, sister of the real Nael van Darnus. Vamax was shocked at first but vowed to her that he would always serve her to which she responded by asking to stay by her side. To that end, he was devoted to her not only as a Tribunus to his Legatus but as someone akin to a lover.

Scions of the Seventh Dawn

Vamax had a difficult beginning with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn due to his affiliation with the VIIth Legion. However, in time, he proved himself to be a faithful companion within the Scions. He would give his life for them no matter the cost.

Gaius Baelsar

In his time in the Garlean army, Vamax respected Gaius, being inspired by the other male's skills with the gunblade. He soon started to use the gunblade himself, wanting to be as good with it as the legatus. When he was with the Scions, he treated Gaius as an enemy despite the latter's offer to serve under the Garlean banner again. It was only during the Sorrow of Werlyt questline that he grew to be in love with the former legatus and the feelings being returned, promising afterward that he would return once he helped the Scions stop the Final Days.
